South Park is NOT Anime

Description

My first attempt at a stamp, using the Photoshop template.

*rant ahead*

This is an issue that I've struggled with here on deviantART, as well as the internet in general.

The South Park fandom.

I love the show. Despite appearing crude offensive, and immature at times, South Park is witty, meta, and quite intelligent in the subject matter that it parodies.

From much of the fan art and fan fiction that I see and read online, you would never know that.

No, the fans of South Park spend their time drawing Stan, Kyle, Kenny, Cartman and the gang as generic (skinny) animu-styled "smexy bishies z0mg!!!11", and writing about teen-aged Stan and Kyle having "hawt buttsecks".

fav.me/d1y9fr8 This is about the only anime-styled South Park art I've seen that's done (somewhat) RIGHT, in staying to the show's chubby look (sometimes known in anime as "Puni Plush style") for most characters.

Jesus they even fucking cosplayed it browse.deviantart.com/?qh=§ion=&global=1&q=south+park+cosplay#/d20v0qk
fav.me/d2e2ebq And this is the first time I've said this, but this chick isn't fat ENOUGH to be cosplaying Cartman. As if it really counts as a costume.

No. just no.

South Park is NOT an anime, the characters are NOT in high school, and the show is NOT about yaoi.

Get it through your heads.

If you want yaoi, go fucking watch Gravitation or something.
Don't ruin South Park.

Edit: Check out this sweet stamp made by ~kagefox that illustrates this topic perfectly:
STOP. WITH. THE. DESU.

Edit 2: Just so you know, I loved "Good Times With Weapons". (the anime episode).
I loved it because it was a parody, of shonen anime specifically.
All you goddamn fangirls are making it shojo and TAKING IT WAY TOO SERIOUSLY. FFFFFFffffff

Also check out this stamp: And yes, many anime styles are in fact bad.
Face structure? Chins? Noses? lol what are those? :iconderpfaceplz:
I should not have to tell 2 characters apart by the number of spikes in their hair.
Edit 3: For all the people saying "BUT ANIME MEANS CARTOON IN JAPAN!!!" you KNOW that's not what I mean.

In Japan the term may refer to any animation regardless of country of origin, but "anime" is used in the West to describe a distinctly Japanese style of aesthetics, physical animation quality, and writing.

Edit 4: 635 COMMENTS HOLY SHIT. WHY CAN'T YOU FAGS GO LOOK AT MY REAL ART.

nobody said it was. its common sense that it’s not an anime, I get hating the whole yaoi thing but hating cosplays and stuff is lame lol
